Palm Saturday Walk 2026 – Walking Together Toward Holy Week
Montreal
The diocesan Church gathers annually on the Saturday of Palm Sunday weekend for a joyful and visible community pilgrimage in the heart of Montreal. This year, it is scheduled for March 28. Organized by diocesan youth ministry's Mission Jeunesse Montréal, the walk serves both as spiritual preparation for Holy Week and as a missionary act—a public proclamation of Christ in our city.
A Strong Beginning at Saint Joseph’s Oratory
The day begins at Saint Joseph’s Oratory of Mount Royal with prayer, music, and a brief reflection on the meaning of Palm Sunday. With palm branches in hand, young people, families, parish groups and ministries, clergy, and members of various Church movements set out in a spirit of faith and unity.
A Public Pilgrimage Through the City
Through the walk, participants bear a compelling witness to their faith. As participants sing, pray, and walk together, they proclaim Christ not only within church walls but along the streets of Montreal. The atmosphere is joyful yet reverent—a visible sign of the Church’s presence, unity, and mission.
Last year, thousands took part in the pilgrimage. Archbishop Christian Lépine accompanied the faithful for the entire route, walking alongside young people and families and fostering a deep sense of communion and pastoral presence.
Videos and footage from last year vividly captured the spirit of the pilgrimage: the energy of the youth, moments of prayer along the route, and the memorable arrival at the cathedral. They remain a moving testament to the faith and unity of the diocesan community in action.

A Joyful Arrival at the Cathedral
The pilgrimage concludes at Mary, Queen of the World Cathedral, where participants gather for a liturgical celebration marking the beginning of Holy Week. It is a time of thanksgiving and trust as we prepare to enter the sacred days of the Lord’s Passion, death, and Resurrection.
Once again, we anticipate wide and generous participation from across the diocese. Palm Saturday is more than a single event; it is a sign of unity, hope, and living faith.
We look forward with joy to walking together.
