Following the Quebec Assembly of Catholic Bishops’ announcement to cancel all Sunday Masses and in order to help the faithful participate more fully in their Sunday prayer, Archbishop Christian Lépine of Montreal will take the opportunity to offer a Mass in solidarity with the faithful at St. Joseph’s Oratory. This Sunday Mass will be broadcast live as a closed session from the crypt.

The Premier of Quebec announced today several preventive measures to contain the spread of COVID-19. Meeting in plenary assembly, the Catholic bishops of Quebec want to contribute to this common public-health effort and to act in solidarity with the civil authorities.

With the hope of Easter and Spring just on the horizon, Christians everywhere are now well into the Lenten season, which began with Ash Wednesday. Pope Francis, echoing the words of St. Paul (2 Cor 5:20), invites everyone to take the path toward "reconciliation with God" this Lent; in doing so, the diocese is in communion with the entire Catholic Church. The journey in Montreal began on Feb. 26 with the celebration of Ash Wednesday at a packed Mary Queen of the World Cathedral.

On Monday morning, Pope Francis celebrated Mass at Casa Santa Marta which was broadcast live in order to demonstrate his nearness to those affected by the Covid-19 coronavirus.
