Montreal

July 3, 2023 - The Catholic Church of Montreal’s Office for Cultural and Ritual Communities and the Spanish-speaking Catholic Missions are pleased to extend their invitation to all who wish to take part in a Spanish-language Mass for seasonal workers to be celebrated in Notre-Dame-de-Pompei parish on July 23, 2023, at 3:00 p.m

"We decided as an Office that every year, one local parish should act as host for our seasonal workers, thereby fostering a more tangible and integrative experience of welcome," said Fr. Pierangelo Paternieri, Director of the Catholic Church of Montreal’s Office for Cultural and Ritual Communities.  He added, “This celebration presents an opportunity for us to live in a very real sense the four words of action recommended by Pope Francis: to welcome – to protect – to promote – to integrate, while we strive as a Diocese to build the future together with migrants and refugees.” The Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Emanuel Zetino, priest for Sainte-Marguerite-Bourgeoys parish.

In addition to the approximately 350 workers, some 50 volunteers will also be in attendance. After the Mass, a refreshment hour will be held outside the parish church.

The following dignitaries have confirmed their presence at the event:

Mr. Héctor Orlando Ramírez Funes, Consul General of Honduras
Mr. Nelson Rafael Olivero García, Consul General of Guatemala
Mr. Alejandro Ives Estivill Castro, Consul General of Mexico
