May is here and the socio-ecological transition movement is shedding its light across the country.

The Month of socio-ecological transition starts today. Throughout the month of May, this first version of the event will showcase the socio-ecological transition, spotlighting numerous initiatives all across Quebec. This project is supported by the Front commun pour la transition énergétique, or FCTÉ (United front for energy transition) and its ZéN (zero net emissions) communities in eight regions of Quebec. Several socially and environmentally committed organizations are also supporting the project. The socio-ecological transition requires major systemic changes, and each initiative has the potential to unleash a significant multiplier effect. All these steps towards a just and ecological society work in synergy and, in order to inspire, incite and plant the seeds of change, we want to show off the diversity of these transformational projects.

A movement is certainly under way and, with spring, socio-ecological transition projects are gaining ground, taking root and multiplying!

Social-Ecological Transition Month in action

At the time of writing, dozens of events organized by our ZéN Communities and partner organizations are being mounted in many regions: Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean, Montreal, Lanaudière, Outaouais, Gaspésie, Quebec City, Laval - and that is just the beginning.

A visibility calendar includes announcements of such events as La Grande Transition, the 30th anniversary of the CSQ's ACTE movement, as well as a variety of conferences, symposiums and workshops throughout Quebec. In addition to market openings, murals on climate-related themes and much more, the ZéN Communities have also put together a varied program.

Faces of the socio-ecological transition

Throughout the month, the FCTÉ will also broadcast portraits of several people who are committed body and soul to the transformation of society, employing a wide diversity of approaches and methods, and demonstrating the wealth of potential contributions being made to a healthier and more just environment.

Quotes

"Obviously, socio-ecological transition projects do not happen only in May, but once a year, Socio-ecological Transition Month gives visibility to the scope of what is being set in motion for a society that will be more respectful of the planet's resources and of social justice, across Quebec. This spring, the projects continue to flourish and multiply!”
