The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is an annual ecumenical celebration for Christians of all denominations to come together in jointly organized ecumenical liturgical services. After all, in spite of our historical differences, all Christian churches have in common one essential element: Christ.

This year, once again, the Christian churches of the Plateau Mont-Royal will unite in hearts and faith for a great evening of ecumenical prayer.  The celebration will be held Friday, January 20, 2023, at 7:00 p.m., at Saint-Enfant-Jésus du Mile-End Church (5039 Saint-Dominique).

The invitation is extended on the part of Catholics, the Baptist Evangelical Church La Chapelle, the Mennonite Church and the Theotokos Orthodox Church (churches are listed in alphabetical order). This list is not final. All Catholic churches on the Plateau (and elsewhere) are encouraged to join us!

Of course, everyone is invited. The main objective of the event is to meet one another, to build relationships, to get to know one another and to recognize one another in Christ.

The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity was first begun in 1908 by Father Paul Wattson, founder of the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement Graymoor, New York.

In 2023, the theme chosen by the Christians of Minnesota was: “Learn to do good, seek justice.” The theme is inspired by Isaiah 1:12-27, which urges God's people to do good, seek justice and protect the oppressed, but by doing it together.
Take down the time and place and spread the word!  Christian unity needs each and every one of us.
