St. John Baptist Scalabrini, an Italian bishop from Piacenza, dedicated his life to serving and advocating for migrants. His legacy continues to inspire and guide the work of the Congregation of the Missionaries of St. Charles, commonly known as Scalabrinians, who are active in 33 countries worldwide.

"Speaking with the heart" was the theme of the 57th World Day of Social Communications that was observed on Sunday, 21 May, reminding us that we are encouraged to build bridges between people rather than walls, and that all communication should promote dialogue and openness to others.  

By expanding euthanasia and assisted suicide to those suffering with a mental illness, the federal government is closing the door to “any hope of recovery,” Canada’s bishops have said in an open letter to the Government of Canada.
