The announcement of the next World Youth Day in Seoul, August 3-8, 2027, has rekindled a breath of hope in the hearts of young people around the world. Inspired by the theme "Take courage! I have overcome the world " (Jn 16:33), this invitation reminds us that the risen Christ walks with us and calls us to bear witness with confidence, creativity, and joy.

In Montreal, this dynamic is already very much alive. Several groups are actively preparing for this great pilgrimage, and the Mission Jeunesse Diocesan Youth Minitry Office is working closely with the local Korean community to support the preparation of our delegation. This beautiful synergy was highlighted during the celebration of the 40th anniversary of World Youth Day, during the Christ the King diocesan vigil, where the VIVA - RÉUNION gathering allowed participants to enjoy a fraternal experience around a Korean meal, a concrete sign of communion and openness to the culture of the host country.

In the same spirit, a partnership with a local Korean language school will offer pilgrims the opportunity to begin learning Korean, in order to better prepare for this international gathering and to enter more deeply into the human and spiritual experience of WYD.

An experience for everyone

It is important to remember that WYD is not only for those who will travel to Seoul. WYD is an experience for everyone. Whether through local celebrations, times of formation, vigils, community initiatives, or spiritual journeys, everyone can experience this pilgrimage of hope right here in Montreal.

This meeting will be an opportunity to discover the different ways to get involved in the WYD 2027 adventure, whether as a pilgrim, chaperone, volunteer, or participant in local initiatives. It will also be a special time to learn, connect, and dream together.
