General

Chance sowing, amazing harvests! The theme of the Week of the Word 2023 is inspired by the parable of the sower as told in the Gospel according to Matthew (Mt 13:1-23).

The Week, beginning Friday, January 20, and ending Sunday, January 29, will look at what is sprouting and springing up all over, including in some rather unexpected places. Some of the activities planned will shed light on what goes on within the human heart when it receives the seed of the Word, while others will supply a generous amount of fertilizer to enrich our inner soil. Still other activities will contemplate this work of fertilization by the Word from new and different points of view. There is something for everyone!

The Week of the Word 2023 is the product of a vibrant partnership among the dioceses of Saint-Jean-Longueuil, Chicoutimi, Joliette and Montreal, along with Socabi (Catholic Bible society), the Canadian Bible Society and the Association Québécoise de catéchèse biblique symbolique.

Most activities will be accessible online, and a few will be held in person*. The full program is available on the event website. All activities are free of charge, but registration via the link below is required in order to participate.

*Aside from the activities announced in this program, some activities to be held locally will be announced in the respective parishes or dioceses hosting them.
