Addressing the entire Church in his message for World Mission Sunday 2017, which will be celebrated on October 22, 2017, the Holy Father stated, “This occasion invites us to reflect anew on the mission at the heart of the Christian faith.”

In Montreal, a special celebration will take place at Mary Queen of the World Cathedral, at 5 p.m.

This year, we are called to rediscover that the mission is not only one element of Christian life among many others, but that which lies at the heart of its identity.

We are all invited to celebrate WMS, which "is a good opportunity for enabling the missionary heart of Christian communities to join in prayer, testimony of life and communion of goods, in responding to the vast and pressing needs of evangelization." (Message from Pope Francis for World Mission Day 2017)

In fact, last year, in French-speaking Canada, the Society for the Propagation of the Faith distributed $1,700,000 to the global collection in October. Thanks to you, the missionary initiatives in the poorest dioceses worldwide  - which still rely on the Congregation for the evangelization of peoples- could be supported and will be so in the future, ensuring the evangelization and formation of priests, religious men and women, and lay people, all committed to following Christ and serving humanity.
