Prayer of Solidarity for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
God, creator of heaven and earth, we are born of you and we are your sons and daughters. On this September 30th, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, guide us by your Spirit.
Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples alike, we wish to be united in your Son, Jesus Christ. Our efforts alone are not enough to bring about truth and reconciliation—we need you.
In this Holy Year of Hope, you invite us to grow in your love and increase our love for one another.
Sow in us a "word of hope" that bears fruit.
Lead us forward on a "journey of hope" that teaches us to walk in harmony. Multiply the "signs of hope" that bring us together in song, laughter, and prayer. Open our hearts to "appeals for hope" so that, together, we may find ways marked by dignity.
With one heart, we praise you, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and give you thanks for helping us remain "anchored in hope" as we face our common mission.
In this, all will recognize that we are brothers and sisters.
Amen.
Suggested for reading during the universal prayer intentions on Sunday, September 28, and at Mass on Tuesday, September 30.
