General

On Saturday, June 11, 2016, at 7:30 p.m., Luc Couture and Francis Joannette will be ordained permanent deacons during a celebration presided by Archbishop Lépine, at Mary Queen of the World Cathedral.

Luc is married to Nicole Crevier and they have 3 children, live in Laval where they are involved at Saint-Sylvain et Saint-Yves parishes.

Francis is married to Jacqueline Di Vito; they have 2 children, also young adults. They live in Laval and are active at Saint-Léopold parish.

We give thanks to the Lord for Francis and Luc who will pledge to be the permanent sign of a servant Church in our world, and for their wives and families who generously accept to share them.

While transitional deacons go on to the priesthood, the great majority of permanent deacons are married and have children. Their wives' consent and support is necessary for the discernment, the formation and ordination.

Today, our diocese has 73 permanent deacons and 17 in in preparation.
