On Friday, June 11, the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, at 5:00 p.m., Archbishop Christian Lépine of Montreal will preside at a special Mass held at Mary Queen of the World Cathedral for the Aboriginal children who perished in residential schools.. The Mass is in response to the appalling discovery of the remains of 215 children in unidentified graves within the grounds of a former residential school in Kamloops, B.C.

‘‘We continue to pray for the children lost, for their grieving families and for our Aboriginal brothers and sisters across Canada, in Quebec and in the Greater Montreal area,’’ declared Archbishop Lépine; ‘’Words cannot express my deep sorrow in the face of so much suffering.’’

In accordance with the public-health guidelines in effect, a maximum of 100 persons will be allowed to attend this Mass in the cathedral.
