Laudato Si' Week 2026: Turning Hope into Action
Montreal
From May 17 to 24, 2026, Catholics around the world are invited to take part in Laudato Si' Week, an international initiative inspired by Pope Francis's encyclical Laudato Si' on the care of our common home.
This annual week of prayer, reflection and concrete engagement renews the call to embrace a genuine integral ecology, encompassing creation, human dignity and solidarity among peoples.
A Week to Pray, Reflect and Act
More than a commemoration of the publication of Laudato Si', this week is a renewed invitation to take concrete steps for the environment and the common good.
Parishes, schools, families, religious communities, organizations and individuals are all invited to participate, each in their own way, through a simple but meaningful initiative.
The goal is clear: to turn hope into action.
A Concrete Action for Our Common Home
Laudato Si' Week 2026 extends a simple invitation to all: choose one concrete action to carry out during the week.
This action can take many forms:
- organizing a time of prayer or dialogue
- reducing energy consumption
- rethinking certain consumption habits
- caring for a local natural space
- raising awareness of integral ecology among young people
- establishing a lasting commitment within a community
The focus is not on perfection, but on collective participation.
A Global Mobilization
This initiative forms part of the Laudato Si' Action Platform, a worldwide movement gathering the concrete responses of Catholic communities to today's ecological and social challenges.
As Pope Francis writes in Laudato Si':
"Hope would have us recognize that there is always a way out [...] that we can always do something." (LS 61)
Through small actions taken together across the world, Laudato Si' Week becomes a living witness to hope, responsibility and faith in action.
