Montreal

August 29, 2025

It is with immense gratitude to God that we announce the ordination to the priesthood of David Oh, seminarian for the Archdiocese of Montreal.

The celebration will take place on Friday, August 29, at 7:30 p.m., at Saint-Gilbert Church, and will be presided over by Archbishop Christian Lépine of Montreal. Rooted in the diversity of our local Church, the liturgy will be celebrated in French, English, and Spanish. For those who are unable to attend in person, the celebration will be broadcast live on YouTube Live.

We invite you to pray for David, that his heart may always remain united to Christ, the Good Shepherd, as he prepares to give his life in service to the Gospel and the Church.

A path guided by prayer

Born in Seoul, South Korea, and raised in California, David Oh is a man of faith, science, and discernment. An engineer by training, he worked as a technician in Vancouver while nurturing a deep inner life. Attracted to the consecrated life, he experienced monastic life in two communities—one in British Columbia and another in Quebec.

These experiences, marked by prayer and silence, helped him discover the unique call that God had placed in his heart: to become a priest. Today, after several years of formation at the Grand Séminaire de Montréal and a year of pastoral integration at the parish of Saint-Gilbert, he is ready to respond fully to the Lord's call.

His favorite verse, taken from the Gospel according to Saint John, inspires his vocation:

“Remain in me, as I remain in you.” (Jn 15:4)

May this celebration be an opportunity to renew our faith, support our vocations, and entrust our communities to the Lord.

We look forward to seeing many of you there!
