On April 22, 2023, Alex Deschênes, specialist and popularizer of Pope John Paul II’s theology of the body, was invited to Sainte Madeleine parish in Outremont to give a series of talk entitled: “Called to Love”. Our world today presents us with mixed messages about the meaning of human sexuality that can lead us astray, away from who we really are and who we are called to become. This is why such a dialogue on the meaning of affectivity and sexuality – and particularly with parents and young people – is essential! We invite you to view these dynamic conferences (in French only) aimed at different age groups: the first is aimed at parents, the second at young adults (18-35) and the third at teenagers (12 -17). More than 150 people from across the diocese were present at this dynamic event in which Alex explained the plan of love that God unfolds through human sexuality.

Alex, father of three, is the founder of Équipe Ignis whose mission is to form and accompany young people and families in the vision of the theology of the body. Currently pursuing a doctorate in philosophy, he recently had his book “Tu es don : La théologie du corps pour les jeunes” published with Novalis. Written with teens and young adults in mind, it is great introduction to biblical point of view of the search for meaning and love in today’s world. A great summer read! The Diocesan Centre for Marriage, Life and Family of the Archdiocese of Montreal was a proud partner of this event.
