Canonization Date Set: Carlo Acutis and Pier Giorgio Frassati to Be Declared Saints Together This Fall

International
In a historic moment for the Church and a sign of hope for young Catholics everywhere, Pope Leo XIV has announced that Blesseds Carlo Acutis and Pier Giorgio Frassati will be canonized together on September 7, 2025. The announcement came on June 13 during the Pope’s first Ordinary Public Consistory, held at the Apostolic Palace in Vatican City.
This marks a rare celebration: two laymen from different centuries—each known for their radiant faith and youthful zeal—will be declared saints side by side. Frassati, a 20th-century advocate for justice and solidarity with the poor, and Acutis, a 21st-century digital missionary devoted to the Eucharist, lived decades apart but shared a deep love for Christ and neighbour. Their canonization sends a powerful message to today’s Church: holiness is possible at any age, in every generation, and in all walks of life. Young people across the world continue to find in them living witnesses of joyful, courageous discipleship.
