Way of the Cross through the streets of Montreal

On Good Friday, April 3, 2026, join Archbishop Christian Lépine for a public procession through the heart of the city.

Departure: 9:30 a.m., Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours Chapel
Route: Notre-Dame and Saint Patrick's Basilicas, Place Ville Marie
Arrival: Noon, Mary Queen of the World Cathedral

All are welcome. This public event is open to anyone who wishes to pause, walk, and reflect on the meaning revealed in the Passion of Christ.

Goals:
- Raise awareness against wars, violence, injustices, and crimes against humanity committed against defenseless civilian populations, particularly women and children thoughout the world.
- Mobilize the masses around fraternity and solidarity for a harmonious world that respects differences.
- Working for justice and peace.

The walk begins at St. Joseph’s Oratory, where we gather as youth in prayer, music, and reflection. From there, we walk through the heart of Montreal (5km), palms in hand, as a testimony of faith, joy, and hope. Just like the crowd that welcomed Jesus in Jerusalem, this procession is a visible sign of Christ’s presence in the city and the world.

The arrival at Mary Queen of the World Cathedral marks the beginning of the Palm Sunday Mass, entirely animated by youth, for youth.

4 pm: Opening
4:30: Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament
6:30: Arrival of pilgrims
7:00: Holy Mass, with Archbishop Christian Lépine

On Good Friday, Friday, April 18, 2025, Communion and Liberation (CL Canada) organizes the Way of the Cross through the streets of Old Montreal.
The procession led by Mgr Christian Lépine, Archbishop of Montréal will start at 9:30 a.m. from the historical Chapel of Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours to arrive at Mary Queen of the World Cathedral around noon.

For Good Friday, Communion and Liberation is organizing a Way of the Cross procession through the streets of Old Montreal, guided by Archbishop Christian Lépine. Departing at 9:30 a.m. from the historic Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours chapel, the procession proceeds to Notre-Dame Basilica, St. Patrick's Basilica and Gesù Church, passing through Place Ville Marie and arriving around noon at Mary Queen of the World Cathedral.

This event is an opportunity for people of consecrated life to get together and respond to Pope Francis' call, a year after his visit to Canada, to draw closer to aboriginal peoples. Two virtual information sessions are being organized in collaboration with ''Mission Chez nous'' to better understand the aboriginal reality, on Tuesday September 12 from 7pm to 9pm and Saturday October 21 from 10am to 12pm via Zoom.
