The "Cry from the Heart" emergency campaign, launched by Mond'Ami, the Pontifical Society for Missionary Childhood in French-speaking Canada, has raised nearly $280,000 in its first year. This result marks a significant step toward the goal of raising $1 million in three years to ensure the organization's sustainability and the continuation of its mission to support the most vulnerable children.

Launched publicly on January 26, 2026, the campaign aims to establish a contingency fund that will allow Mond'Ami to consolidate its financial stability while maintaining its support for the many projects it backs around the world.

For over 180 years, Mond'Ami has been supporting children living in extreme poverty and raising awareness among young Canadians about the realities faced by their contemporaries in the world's most disadvantaged countries. The funds raised will be used to support initiatives that promote access to education, healthcare, and adequate nutrition, while also encouraging pastoral activities and the transmission of human and spiritual values.

For Bishop Martin Laliberté, p.m.é., Bishop of Saint-Jean–Longueuil and honorary chair of the campaign, this first year demonstrates a true surge of solidarity. He emphasizes that each contribution represents a concrete action taken to help children in need and encourages continued efforts to build bridges of fraternity between children here and those elsewhere.

This campaign comes at a time when Mond'Ami is facing several challenges, including a reduced presence in schools, evolving funding models, and the repercussions of recent fundraising difficulties. By strengthening its financial foundation, the organization hopes to ensure the continuity of its mission for years to come.

Father Yoland Ouellet, National Director pro tempore of the Pontifical Mission Societies in French-speaking Canada, believes that the initial results demonstrate that Mond'Ami's mission continues to resonate with many people. He says this support allows them to look to the future with confidence and continue their commitment to the most vulnerable children, while raising awareness among local youth about the values of sharing, mutual support, and solidarity.

The "Cry from the Heart" campaign will continue over the next two years to reach its goal of $1 million. Those who wish to support this initiative or learn more can visit the Mond'Ami website.
