Sunday, November 16, 2025: 9th World Day of the Poor
Montreal
“You, Lord, are my hope.” (Psalm 71:5)
As the Church journeys through the Jubilee Year of Hope (2025), the Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV, invites us to embrace this time of grace with hearts renewed in faith, strengthened in charity, and rooted in hope.
On Sunday, November 16, 2025, the 33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time, the Church throughout the world will celebrate the 9th World Day of the Poor — a day to recognize and encounter Christ in the face and story of the most vulnerable among us.
In his message for this occasion, Pope Leo XIV reminds us that hope in God never disappoints. The poor, he writes, are not not a distraction for the Church’s mission but at its very heart — witnesses of steadfast hope who call us to act with love and justice. During this Jubilee Year, we are invited to make our communities places of encounter, compassion, and shared hope.
