This year, the Diocesan World Youth Day will be held on March 28. Come join hundreds of young people who will be gathered together to celebrate their faith in Jesus Christ!

The Diocesan World Youth Day Celebration is the gathering where all Montreal youth are invited by the Archbishop to gather and celebrate their faith in Jesus Christ, and to highlight the vitality of young people at the heart of our Church.

There are 3 parts to this celebration:

12:30 PM - Youth Festival at

Teens and Young Adult groups are invited to actively participate in the Youth Festival bychoosing part of the Holy Father's message that inspired them or the WYD theme of this year, and to present it to others in a creative artistic way.

  • Teen Animation (13-17 years old)
  • Young Adult Animation (18-35 years old)

3 PM - Mini-Pilgrimage in the streets of downtown Montreal

A time to witness to the love of Christ. The pilgrimage through the streets of Montreal becomes a commemoration of the Lord's entrance into Jerusalem. We are Christ's disciples who want to transform today's world. We walk in the streets to witness our faith and hope in Jesus Christ.

4 PM - Commemoration of the Lord's Entrance into Jerusalem

Blessing of the Palms at St. Patrick's Basilica

5 PM - Eucharistic Celebration of the Passion presided by Archbishop Christian Lépine at Mary Queen of the World Cathedral

A solemn moment in commemoration of the Passion of Christ. It is a calm and sombre time, as we re-live the painful memory of the Lord's final hour, and because His love for us is very precious. It is through His Passion that we can celebrate His Resurrection and our own salvation.

Distribution of the Cross to Young People

In this year of the Consecrated Life, Mission Jeunesse - Youth Ministry Office and l'Œuvre des Vocations would like to acknowledge the presence of the different communities in our diocese. During the celebration of the Passion of Christ, we invite men and women religious, priests and seminarians and consecrated persons to express their joy to follow the Lord by handing young people a little cross blessed by our Archbishop. The cross will have a heart at its center in order to highlight the theme of this World Youth Day. Who knows this gesture can bless your vocation.
