Christ is King!

At the feast day mass of Christ the King held Nov. 23, Archbishop Christian Lépine asked the congregation: “Do you have a crucifix at home? Do you take the time to ponder the meaning of it?” It is through contemplating these simple yet challenging questions that the faithful were invited to enter into the feast of Christ the King, the king who comes with the promise of a kingdom that is not of this world.

This year’s feast of Christ the King was a memorable event for the Missionary Sisters of Christ the King (MCR). Bishop Alain Faubert, V.G. celebrated the 90th anniversary of the founding of their community at their Mother House in Laval, Nov. 24. The Honourable Guy Ouellette, Member of the Quebec National Assembly for Chomedey, was also in attendance to thank the sisters for their work.

Archbishop Christian Lépine, member the International board of directors for Aid to the Church in Need (ACN), opened this year’s mass for persecuted Christians with the words: “It is time for courage to affirm one’s faith and not to hide it.” During the service held on Red Wednesday, Nov. 20, he offered ideas to consider on how to help our brethren, both the persecuted, and the persecutors.
