One month after a massive explosion at a fertilizer storage facility tore through Beirut and reopened Lebanon’s old wounds, Pope Francis expresses his and the Church’s solidarity with the troubled nation and calls for a worldwide day of prayer on Friday, 4 September.

In his catechesis at the Wednesday General Audience, Pope Francis urges everyone to combine authentic solidarity with the virtue of faith in order to heal social ills in the post-pandemic world.

Even during this period of social isolation due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the Sunday liturgy continues to offer nourishment for prayer and reflection throughout the week – whether we are reflecting on the readings, or following Mass via a television broadcast and celebrating in spiritual Communion.

Francis Bégin will be ordained to the priesthood on October 2, 7:30 p.m. at Jesus Light of the World Parish (Mary Queen of Peace Church). After a long journey, he reminds everyone to "not be afraid to answer God's call", because "it is the most beautiful thing that can happen to us. God wants our happiness and He knows what is the best way for us".

Pope Francis released a video message to accompany his prayer intention for September, which, this month, is for respect for the planet’s resources: that we “take care of Creation responsibly”.
