A few words of introduction ….
“Receive the Holy Spirit, the gift of God…” It is with these words the Sacrament of Confirmation is conferred. What gift could God give that is more precious than his Spirit? As at the morning of Pentecost, it is the Holy Spirit that God gave to his Church to establish it at the heart of humanity, to animate the Gospel and renew it without end until the gates of eternity. This is why all baptized take up the Pentecost event. This gift of God grows the virtues of wisdom, understanding, right judgement, courage, knowledge, reverence, and wonder and awe in each confirmand. This divine filiation, already committed to at baptism, is now accessible for their adult faith experience. The sacramental grace of baptism is present as they repeat their act of faith and say “yes, I do.” The baptized faithful have grown up in their commitment to follow Jesus Christ with the power of the Holy Spirit of God.
Those who will soon celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation have been well prepared for this joyous event of Christian life. It is with a serene faith, joyful and fervent, that they will come to welcome on their forehead, and in their hearts, the mark of the Holy Spirit. We accompanied them with tenderness as our testimony to the new life brought by Christ. Now the moment of celebration will be fixed soon. Let us intensify our prayers for their intentions…
