To respond to the invitation of Pope Francis to have a World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, we invite you to attend a bilingual ecumenical evening of prayer at Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours Chapel on Tuesday, September 1st, 2015 at 7.00 pm.

Pope Francis and the Environment

On June 18, 2015 Pope Francis published the first encyclical on ecology in which he speaks of environmental issues and stresses the need for all Christians to be actively involved in the Care of Creation and in finding solutions to reduce the current ecological crisis. It is within this context, that the Pope instituted a World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, to be held on September 1, the date on which the Orthodox churches have been praying for this intention for several years.

Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours Chapel and the Care of Creation

The corporation of Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours Chapel and Marguerite Bourgeoys Museum is part of the Green Churches Network. As such, the Chapel, is committed to taking ecologically responsible actions, and adopting new environmentally friendly practices. It is, therefore, important for our Institution to respond to the invitation of Pope Francis for a World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation.

Saint Marguerite Bourgeoys, foundress of Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours Chapel was a woman of dialogue and collaboration. In the same spirit, we wish to welcome our brothers and sisters of different Christian traditions to join with us in this bilingual evening of prayer.
