From Evangelization to Catechesis

Formation for Christian life has become a major project for the Church of Montreal. Thousands of volunteers are involved in catechesis for people ofall ages, in order to pass on the Christian heritage. Many programs and instruments are used to awaken, initiate and educate in the faith. In this way the Church can realize her mission: evangelization.

Proposing Jesus Christ as a Community: A Diversity of Contributions

Various roles and contributions ensure that people of all ages are awakened to the faith and initiated into the Christian life: parents, grandparents, catechists, parish catechetical leaders (PCLs), pastors, deacons... The following testimonies tell of their motivations, joys, and challenges in the parish community's catechetical mission of proposing Jesus Christ.

Catechists as Mediators of an Encounter with Jesus Christ

These past years, thousands of volunteer catechists have risen to the challenge of ensuring faith education in our Church communities. Suzanne Desrochers, who has a degree in theology and adult education, reflects on our catechists' testimonies (p. 21-22 and 39-40), from her outlook on Quebec's various catechetical realities.

Catechesis and the Challenge of Diversity

"It takes a village to raise a child," goes the African proverb. So it takes a whole Church community to make a Christian. Numerous actors are involved in the process of evangelization. This poses the challenge of diversity. Based on testimonies (p. 21-22 and 39-40) and his own experience, Fr. Guindon contributes his thoughts and questions to this issue.
