ANNUAL COLLECTION 2012

For more than 23 years, numerous faithful have generously responded to the appeal made by Jean-Claude Cardinal Turcotte to promote the Annual Collection. In 2011, more than 10,000 donors helped us to raise $1,648,972.

Our new archbishop, Most Rev. Christian Lépine, has expressed his deep gratitude to the cardinal, who, during his pastorate, made every effort to ensure that our diocesan Church had the resources it needed to proclaim the Good News.

Your generosity allows us to support the ongoing efforts of the hundreds of priests, pastoral workers and volunteers labouring throughout the diocese, who work, very often behind the scenes and with limited resources, for the well-being of their fellow citizens.

In a society where so many people search for meaning in life, countless rely on the presence and message of the Church. Every day, the elderly and the infirm are visited; meals are served; children are accompanied on their journey of faith; in moments of joy, there is celebration; in moments of sorrow, there is comfort.

In addition to raising the necessary funds to operate effectively, especially within the disadvantaged neighbourhoods of our diocese, the Annual Collection affords an opportunity to focus public attention on the presence and work of the Church. We want to highlight all good works undertaken by the Church.

As usual, the advertising agency BOS is conducting a city-wide media campaign to engage the general public, since the Annual Collection has become indispensable in helping us to fulfil the mission entrusted to our Church.






The advertising concept illustrates in a strong but subtle way the mission of the Church in Montreal. The imprint left over time by a cross on vintage wallpaper clearly states that the Church remains present in this city. The Church is neither from the past nor a thing of the past, but remains present today in the everyday lives of the inhabitants of our city.

It is with confidence in your generosity that we ask you to participate in this great charitable appeal; our new archbishop is counting on us. The Annual Collection will be held from April 15 to 29, 2012, in all parishes as well as in the mainstream media.
