THE THEOLOGY OF THE BODY ACCORDING TO JEAN-PAUL II

For some time now, we hear speaking about the Theology
of the body. This term refers to a series of 129 conferences
given by the pope Jean-Paul II between September 1979 and
November 1984. It is the first major teaching of its pontificate,
and the longest teaching which was given by a pope about
marriage and sexuality. Jean-Paul II devoted HIS LIFE to
answer these questions and many others. His reflexions are
strongly based on the Word of God, mainly on the Gospels,
the letters of Saint-Paul and the book of Genesis.

WHAT IS THE THEOLOGY OF THE BODY
The Theology of the Body is the integral vision of the human
person - body, heart and spirit - developed by the Pope
Jean Paul II. As he explains it, the human body has a precise
significance; it carries answers to the most essential questions
  of our existence:

Does life have a direction and, if so, what it is?

Why were we created man and woman?

Is it really important if we are one sex or the other?

At the beginning, why were man and woman called
  to live in communion?

What does the marital union of a man and a woman tell us
about God and his plan for our life?

What is the meeting of vocations to the marriage
  and the celibacy?

What does it mean « to love»?

Is it really possible to be "pure of hearts" and to
  practise chastity?
