Discovering the Great Christian Family Online
The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity takes place from January 18 to 25. Launched in 1908 by Rev. Paul Wattson, an American Anglican pastor, this event is observed worldwide by celebrations, prayer gatherings, activities promoting dialogue and encounters between the various Churches who share the same faith in Jesus Christ.
349 Churches are in fact members of the World Council of Churches - a fellowship that promotes unity and dialogue.
Many websites encourage a better understanding of the numerous Christian traditions around the globe and of the ecumenical movement (the dialogue between Christians of "the entire inhabited world", according to the etymology of "ecumenical").
François Gloutnay, a specialist of Christian websites, lists several of them to help explore Christian unity during this week of prayer.
