NEW ARCHBISHOP NAMED FOR SHERBROOKE

(2011-07-26) The bishop of a nearby diocese has been appointed to Sherbrooke. Pope Benedict XVI today named Bishop Luc Cyr of Valleyfield, located southwest of Montreal, the archbishop of Sherbrooke.

CANADIAN BISHOPS ISSUE MESSAGE TO NORWAY

(2011-07-26) The Canadian bishops issued a message of sympathy and solidarity July 25, in the wake of last week's tragedy in Norway. Most of the victims were teens and young adults. Recent reports indicate that the death toll is 76.

BISHOP ANDRÉ GAZAILLE NAMED TO NICOLET

(2011-07-11) Pope Benedict XVI announced today the nomination of Bishop André Gazaille as the sixth bishop of Nicolet. He succeeds Bishop Raymond St-Gelais, who is retiring at the age of 75.

Fr. Christian Lépine named auxiliary bishop

Fr. Thomas Dowd named auxiliary bishop

(2011-07-11) Pope Benedict XVI has named Fr. Thomas Dowd the fifth English-speaking auxiliary bishop of Montreal. At 40 years old, Bishop-elect Dowd is the youngest bishop in Canada. The nomination was announced July 11.

Religious unite efforts, resources for Haiti
