(2011-05-30) Though Fr. Joel Saavedra Valencia, 27, is the youngest priest for the Archdiocese of Montreal, in his native Peru, he would not be. Jean-Claude Cardinal Turcotte ordained the new priest in Verdun, May 13.

HÔTEL-DIEU SISTERS FETE 375 YEARS

(2011-05-25) On May 18, 1636, Marie de la Ferre and Anne Foureau, moved into a dilapidated building, joining three other women in caring for the sick in La Flèche, France. They soon moved to Montreal. After 375 years, their vision is still viable.

ITALIAN PARISH CELEBRATES CENTENNIAL

(2011-05-24) The Catholic Church of Montreal marked the 100th anniversary of Notre-Dame-de-la-Défense Parish, in the heart of Little Italy, with its consecration, May 15. The 800-seat church was bursting at the seams; an estimated 1,000 people attended.

MTL. FÊTES BEATIFICATION OF JOHN PAUL II

(2011-05-02) Montreal celebrated the beatification of John Paul II, May 1, in a way that would have made the late pope proud. Jean-Claude Cardinal Turcotte presided and an estimated 1,200 people attended.
