Grosse-Île: The Musical

Following its presentation to appreciative audiences at Quebec City’s Palais Montcalm in 2016, Grosse-Île: The Musical; une histoire chorale, the moving rendering of a rich and transformative chapter in Canadian and Quebec immigration history, will be produced on October 27, 28, 29 and November 3, 4 and 5, 2017 at Oscar-Petersen Hall in Montréal. It is a not-for-profit venture, largely dependent on ticket sales.

This original piece, written by Québec authors, tells the story of Irish refugees who crossed the Atlantic under very harsh conditions in 1847, but found safe harbour in the generosity of French Canadian families. It is based on the historical writings of the late Marianna O’Gallagher of Quebec City.
