2017 WARDENS SESSIONS

Inviting all Pastors, Wardens, Assistants, Office Administrators, Parish Secretaries, and Bookkeepers: The Office for English Pastoral Services, in partnership with the Diocesan Finance Office, is offering a two-evening Study and Formation Session for the Role of Wardens elected to a fabrique. The focus of these sessions is to develop understanding and awareness of the role of wardens in the Mission, especially through their support in sustaining pastoral initiatives. We will also take a look at the administrative and financial contexts of serving the parish. To be held Thursday, March 23 and Thursday, March 30 from 6:30pm-9pm both evenings at the Archdiocese of Montreal (2000 Sherbrooke St. West) in room 135.  Cost per fabrique is $50, regardless of the number of members attending. WORLD DAY FOR CONSECRATED LIFE

As festivities for the 375th anniversary of the founding of Montreal begin, Archbishop Christian Lépine will celebrate a special Mass for consecrated life on Saturday, January 28, 10am at Mary Queen of the World Cathedral (1085 de la Cathédrale St., Montreal). All are welcome to attend.

 

WORLD DAY OF THE SICK: DAY OF PRAYER

Join SASMAD/Pastoral Home Care Services on Saturday, February 11 at 9am for a morning of prayer, followed by midday mass presided by Archbishop Christian Lépine at Sanctuaire St. Jude (10120 d’Auteuil Ave., Montreal). Morning prayer will include the rosary and Sacrament of the Sick. Fellowship lunch to follow in the church hall (a light soup will be served). All are welcome! DIOCESAN AWARD OF MERIT FOR ALTAR SERVERS

A special celebration awarding the “Bishop’s Medal” to deserving young persons, chosen from our diocesan Francophone, Anglophone and cultural communities will be held on Sunday, May 15, 3pm at Mary Queen of the World Cathedral (1085 rue de la Cathédrale, Montreal). This celebration, held in collaboration with the Serra Club of Montreal, will consist of a Liturgy of the Word, followed by a blessing and awarding of the medal. INVITATION TO ALL THE NEWLY BAPTIZED

A warm welcome is extended to families, sponsors and church communities for The Neophyte’s Mass to be held on Sunday, April 17, 11am at Mary Queen of the World Cathedral (1085 rue de la Cathédrale, Montreal). Neophytes will each be handed a white stole, symbolizing the white garment received at Easter. During Mass, Archbishop Christian Lépine will ask the newly baptized to give up the stole and take their place as full-fledged members of the Church, with nothing to differentiate them from their Christian brothers and sisters. Neophytes are asked to arrive before 10:45am and go to the table at the main doors of the Cathedral (René-Lévesque entrance) to receive their white stole and sign in. In order to prepare for this event, all those who wish to attend are asked to RSVP before Wednesday, April 6 at oeps@diocesemontreal.org We look forward to seeing everyone there, including those who are celebrating their first anniversary of their baptism. ARCHDIOCESE OF EDMONTON: EVERY LIFE MATTER SERIES

Every Life Matters is a series of five special presentations on various aspects of the assisted suicide and euthanasia issue. They will include prayer, personal witness, teaching from Archbishop Richard Smith, and time for questions and answers. In co-operation with Salt+Light TV, we are livestreaming these sessions and inviting you to participate by sending in questions and comments via Facebook and Twitter. Feast of Corpus Christi 2015: Shine Forth the Light of Christ

All are welcome on Thursday, June 4 beginning with Mass at a new time this year of 7pm at Mary Queen of the World Cathedral (1085 rue de la Cathédrale, Montreal) followed by a Eucharistic procession through the streets of downtown Montreal to St. Patrick’s Basilica (460 René-Lévesque Blvd. West, Montreal) for benediction. The sessions will be held on Monday, March 16 and Wednesday, March 25 from 6:45pm-9:30pm both evenings at the Archdiocese of Montreal (2000 Sherbrooke St. West) in room 135.
