NOTRE-DAME BASILICA: CHOIR CONCERTS

This month, enjoy the magic of choral music in performances by world-famous choirs at the Basilica (110 Notre-Dame St. West, Montreal). Cost is included in the admission fees: $6 for 18 and older; $4 ages 7-17; free for ages 6 and younger. Concerts run for 30 minutes:

 

  • March 13, 10:30am: Eastern Chamber Singers

The premiere vocal ensemble comprised of 20-25 auditioned singers from various depart ments throughout the Eastern Connecticut State University.  Repertoire encompasses chamber music from more than four centuries.

  • March 14, 2pm: Rider High School Choir

From Wichita Falls, Texas, this choir has also performed in Boston, MA and most recently at the Polynesian Cultural Centre in Hawaii.

  • March 17, 10am: Huntsville Youth Orchestra

Founded in 1961, HYO is among the finest youth orchestras in the southeast region of the United States.

Hosted by Plain Folk the second Friday of every month, The Side Door Coffee House is a non-profit venue that presents an evening of live entertainment, covering a variety of genres including fold, jazz, blues, country, bluegrass, Celtic and classical. SANCTUARY OF ST. KATERI TEKAKWITHA: CONCERT FUNDRAISER

As a fundraiser for the Kateri Hall Kitchen renovation, the St. Francis Xavier Mission will be hosting a harpissimo concert on Sunday, October 2, 2:30pm (1 River Rd, Kahnawake, J0L 1B0). The concert will feature 12–16 harpists. The cost per ticket is $25 for adults (which will include a complimentary glass of wine at the end of the concert) and $10 for children. PETER’S CHORD IN CONCERT: ‘MOMENTS OF GRACE’

Enjoy an evening performance by the 10-voice, all-clergy choir on Friday, August 19 or Saturday, August 20, 6pm both nights at St. Willibrord Parish (351 Willibrord Ave., Verdun). Suggested
donation of $20. Proceeds will go towards the ongoing construction of St. John Evangelist School of Theology in Palo, Leyte, Philippines, which was badly damaged by typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda). BENEFIT CONCERT: 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF L’ASSOCIATION DES PARENT CATHOLIQUES DU QUÉBEC (APCQ)

The APCQ and the English sector’s Catholic Parents Association of Quebec welcome everyone to a wonderful evening of classical music featuring world-renowned pianist, Anne-Marie Dubois, and with honorary guest, Archbishop Christian Lépine, on Friday, April 1st, 7:30pm at Concert Château Dufresne (2929 Jeanne d’arc Ave., Montreal) near Pie-IX Metro. SUPPORT TWO CAUSES IN ONE: REFUGEES AND BOYS CHOIR

Support Syrian refugee families and enjoy the 100-voice St. Michael’s Choir School from Toronto. The double benefit takes place Wednesday, April 6 at Loyola High School at 7:30pm. Tickets are $25. Most of the proceeds will help four parishes sponsor three refugee families; the balance will help support the well-known boys choir on their Central Canada tour. ST. JOSEPH’S ORATORY: ORGAN AND CHOIR CONCERT

All are welcome on Sunday, October 25 at 3:30pm (3800 Queen Mary Rd., Montreal). Enjoy a performance of the Mass Cum Jubilo and organ music by Maurice Durufle, featuring the Church of St. Andrew and St. Paul Men’s Choir, under the direction of Jean-Sébastien Vallée and with Jonathan Oldengarm as organist. KINKORA-PALOOZA CONCERT FUNDRAISER

Bring your family and friends! All are welcome on Thursday, October 29 from 7pm-10:30pm at the Crowley Centre (5325 Crowley Ave., Montreal). The evening will include a concert and silent auction to help raise money for Kamp Kinkora programs which benefit children at risk, families living in poverty and adults at risk of isolation.
