ST. KEVIN PARISH: PRESENTATION BY SR. LORRAINE CAZA, CND – 375TH ANNIVERSARY OF MONTREAL AND THE CATHOLIC CHURCH

Explore and appreciate the role of the Catholic Church in the development of Ville Marie, the little colony now known as Montreal. ST. THOMAS À BECKET PARISH: CALLED AND GIFTED WORKSHOP

Join us Fridays, March 17, 24, 31, April 7 and 21 from 6:30pm-9:00pm each evening (4320 Ste-Anne St., Pierrefonds). The workshop will introduce participants to how God is calling each of us through our spiritual gifts, known as charisms. We will take a personal inventory of our charisms and learn how to work with these gifts through prayer, group sharing and practice. The program is comprised of five audio recordings which are led by Fr. Sweeney, O.P. and Sherry Weddell of the Catherine of Siena Institute. We guarantee that you will leave this workshop with greater love and understanding of yourself and those you encounter in your daily life. Registration and five-session commitment is required. NOTRE-DAME BASILICA: CHOIR CONCERTS

This month, enjoy the magic of choral music in performances by world-famous choirs at the Basilica (110 Notre-Dame St. West, Montreal). Cost is included in the admission fees: $6 for 18 and older; $4 ages 7-17; free for ages 6 and younger. Concerts run for 30 minutes:

 

  • March 13, 10:30am: Eastern Chamber Singers

The premiere vocal ensemble comprised of 20-25 auditioned singers from various depart ments throughout the Eastern Connecticut State University.  Repertoire encompasses chamber music from more than four centuries.

  • March 14, 2pm: Rider High School Choir

From Wichita Falls, Texas, this choir has also performed in Boston, MA and most recently at the Polynesian Cultural Centre in Hawaii.

  • March 17, 10am: Huntsville Youth Orchestra

Founded in 1961, HYO is among the finest youth orchestras in the southeast region of the United States.

FEAST OF ST. JOSEPH: NOVENA

Under the theme A Heritage to Celebrate, the traditional novena to St. Joseph, Husband of Mary,  begins today, March 10 running through to March 18. The pastoral team at St. Joseph’s Oratory will offer a spiritual journey through preaching and reflection (in French) during the 2pm and 7:30pm Masses, culminating on the feast of St. Joseph on Sunday, March 19 with a 7:30pm Mass presided by Archbishop Christian Lépine. IRISHMAN OF THE YEAR BREAKFAST

This year the Erin Sports Association honours Mr. Andrew W. Fogarty, who has been involved in the English Catholic Community for more than 60 years. He will be joined by family, friends, local celebrities, comedians and dignitaries including Parade Grand Marshall Mayor Denis Coderre on Saturday, March 11, 9am at Plaza Centre Ville (777 Robert-Bourassa Blvd., Montreal). MASS OF ANTICIPATION

ST. PATRICK’S BASILICA: GREEN MASS

All are welcome to celebrate the patronal feast on Sunday, March 19 at 10am (460 René-Lévesque Blvd., West, Montreal). Archbishop Christian Lépine will preside. Please note that the 9am and 11am Masses are cancelled for this Sunday only. The following Masses that day will be held at 12:30pm and 5pm. ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARADE

Montreal’s 194th St. Patrick’s Parade, an event famous the world over, will be held on Sunday, March 19 starting at noon on Ste. Catherine Street from Fort St. to Phillips Square. This year, to mark Montreal’s 375th anniversary, the organizing committee has planned some fun new items to highlight the people and history of the city. The Archdiocese of Montreal will also be participating, together with several parishes. If your parish does not have a unit but you are interested in walking with the diocesan group, please feel welcome to join us before noon at SECTION C. Meeting spot for Section C will be on René-Lévesque Blvd. West, between St. Mathieu and Guy Streets.  We invite everyone to come out and enjoy this great event regardless of the weather!
