Conference on theology of the body

In his teachings on the Theology of the Body, Saint Pope John Paul II spoke to the heart of our desire to be happy and free. This message invites us to discover how to decode love, and how our bodies relate to our call to love and the gift of self in the modern world. Jason Evert and Christopher West, two of the world’s foremost Theology of the Body experts and enthusiasts, will give 7 sessions in Montreal. Come join us to discover and embrace God’s call to greatness in our lives.

A. Rediscovering our authentic sexuality

“Instead of seeming to impose new obligations, [ministers of the new evangelization] should appear as people who wish to share their joy, who point to a horizon of beauty, and who invite others to a delicious banquet.” — Pope Francis
Saint John Paul II’s Theology of the Body is far more than a teaching on marriage and sexuality. It’s a way of setting the world on fire in a new evangelization. It demonstrates that Theology of the Body not only teaches the meaning of sexual love, but also provides a compelling way to present the Gospel message to the modern world.

B. Celibacy and sexuality

Do celibacy and sexuality even belong together? If we think they do not, we have a deeply skewed notion of both! Every human being is by nature a sexual being in as much as we are created male and female. When Christian celibacy is authentically lived, it’s not a rejection of sexuality or a negation of eros, but a sign that anticipates the ultimate fulfillment of sexuality and erotic desire in the marriage of the Lamb. Christian celibacy properly understood and properly lived reveals and proclaims to the whole world that we are made for a bliss and ecstasy that is literally out of this world!

C1. Beyond the talk: sharing God’s plan for sexuality with kids and teens

God placed in every human being a hunger to know the meaning of human sexuality. If we are not feeding our kids from the glorious “banquet” of Gods plan, then they will certainly be seeking answers elsewhere – most likely in the distortions of our pornographic culture. Join Christopher West, the world’s most recognized teacher of Blessed John Paul II’s Theology of the Body, for an evening that will take you beyond “the talk” and show you how to invite children of all ages into the beauty and splendor of God’s plan for their sexuality.

F. Discovering your identity

Anyone can be who they want, whenever they want, however they want. Increasingly, people are convinced that identity is conceived and built according to personal preferences. This way of thinking asserts that our bodies are meaningless. Are our bodies simply shells that prevent us from becoming who we really are, or rather the visible part of ourselves that also point to our heart and mind? Far from meaningless, the body, when seen rightly, reveals our ultimate meaning. Through the Theology of the Body, dive in to the very heart of the meaning of the body and discover its richness, allowing us to discover our true identities and the meaning of our lives.
