Wednesday, May 9 - # 200-05    Threshold of Faith - Opening to Authentic Life

Baptism is the door to life and to the kingdom of God.  It opens for us the way of Jesus Christ, the way of liberation from darkness and sin by our incorporation into his saving death and resurrection.  This evening we will explore the significance of this amazing liturgical action and its dramatic symbols, such as: the processionals, the signing with the Sign of the Cross, and the symbols of water, light, garment and oil.

 

Thursday, May 10 - # 210-04   Adopted by God, Formed into God’s People—Full Stature for Mission

For Baptism to occur, we profess faith in the Trinitarian God.  We are raised to the dignity of God’s own children and built up as a house where God lives, the Church.  As members of this holy people, we are given a new identity, sharing together in Christ’s mission as priest, prophet and king.  This evening we will explore the links between a communal identity and believers who make a difference in the world through the sacred activities of (a) dialogue and questioning, (b) handing on and receiving, and (c) praying.
