The year 2008 marks the 20th Edition of the Annual Collection. Since 1989, this campaign has enabled us to assist the constant efforts of many volunteers, priests and lay pastoral personnel in their local projects. These people often work with limited means and little recognition, especially in the underprivileged areas of our Diocese.

Thanks to the generosity of many individuals, priests, religious communities and businesses, we have collected more than 27 million dollars over the years. In addition to raising funds necessary to our pastoral mission, the Annual Collection also allows the Church of Montreal to be more visible and committed to the local population.

This year, Mr. Michel Ostiguy, President of the Bos Publicity Agency, has accepted to preside the 20th Edition of the Annual Collection. I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the generous collaboration of his Agency which has given us, over the last 18 years, a remarkable recognition and visibility in the eyes of Montreal’s public. 11 prizes and awards of distinction have honored our media campaigns!

To mark this anniversary, Cardinal Jean-Claude Turcotte has asked that a special collection be taken up in all parishes, on Sunday, April 13. The Annual Collection committee has sent the necessary promotional material to parishes. The Cardinal also wishes to thank all those who, one way or another, contribute to making this Annual Collection a successful event.
