Annual Collection of the
Catholic Church of Montreal.

Mr Pierre Dubreuil, Senior Vice-President, Commercial Banking, National Bank of Canada, has accepted to preside this year’s Annual Collection.
Since 1989, the Catholic Church of Montreal has appealed each year to its faithful, its friends, and its partners to acquire sufficient funds for the pursuit of its objective, the faith education of its youth and adult communities, while sustaining its support for the most needy.

Every year, a sound promotional concept is sought, likely to draw widespread attention to the positive impact of the Catholic Church within our society. This year, the concept in English is simply: Be a Saint.

All Christians, men and women alike, are called to holiness. Moreover, non-Christians are also called to do their best, to develop a wholesome life ethic, respectful of others and the environment.

However, the concept for the current campaign in French might come as a surprise to many Anglophones. Other than merely drawing people’s attention, we feel this approach is totally in keeping with the mission of the Church as Teacher. Indeed, sometimes a bit of boldness is required to stir up adults who might no longer pay attention to the true meaning of certain expressions, while, at the same time, drawing the younger set’s awareness to their original connotation.

Sound management of donations

Out of the deepest respect for our donors, the annual collection maintains sound administrative practices, year after year:

Names of donors are kept confidential and none is passed on to any organization whatsoever.

Our appeals are done in house, with no major expenses due to outside consultants.

For almost fifteen years, the BOS advertising agency has generously offered no cost services for producing the promotional concept of the campaign. One of the most prestigious and respected agencies in Montreal, BOS stands as one of our most valued partners.

None of our advertising spots is purchased. Our campaign enjoys a high profile status, thanks to the support of several media outlets that so graciously provide their services.

We also count on the generosity and availability of numerous volunteers from parish congregations, as well as from the business community, all of whom believe it is important to support the Catholic Church of Montreal.
