The Annual Collection of the Catholic Church of Montreal 2005
Archbishop Jean-Claude Cardinal Turcotte would like to thank all members of the Christian communities for their solidarity and support of our diocesan Church. It is due to the hard work of many, including pastors, volunteers, pastoral agents, parish council members, and all the faithful who help to keep the Annual Collection going each year. The amount collected in 2005 will go primarily towards the support of our diocesan priority, faith education for adults and children. Since our Church has assumed the responsibility of faith education there have been many projects undertaken in the various regions of our diocese. Of special mention, the projects for the faith education of very young children, new approaches for the catechesis of children 6-12 years, projects of accompaniment for both children and adults, increased services to the elderly and housebound, and also the preparation of youth who attended World Youth Day 2005 in Cologne, Germany. In addition to faith education projects, the annual collection allows us to support parishes in financial difficulty, and to give them the tools necessary to meet the increasing needs of their communities. Certainly our Church needs the financial support of the Annual Collection. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to it. The Annual Collection Team |
