Mr.
Roger D. Landry, former President and Publisher at the daily
paper La Presse, has accepted our Archbishops invitation
to chair our annual appeal for 2005. Mr. Landry has lent our
Diocesan Church his support many times in the past. Indeed,
as early as 1984, he collaborated in putting together the Popes
visit to Montreal. Cardinal Turcotte is very grateful that Mr.
Landry has accepted to journey with us during this campaign.
Our
Priority: Faith Education
Funds
collected in 2005 will be dedicated to supporting various projects
associated with Faith Education, our main diocesan priority,
as well as to the support of parishes carrying out their mission
among the underprivileged of our society.
Partnership:
a Must for our Diocesan Church
First
started in 1989, our Annual Collection is well established among
the major fund-raising campaigns held throughout the Montreal
area. However, the Collection cannot succeed without the teamwork
of a great many volunteers, men and women, from all parts of
the Diocese.
Cardinal
Turcotte wishes to thank each and every person who contributed,
in one way or another, to make our annual appeal a success:
parish community members, church wardens, members of the clergy,
men and women in consecrated life, as well as business and media
persons, and many others.
Publicity
In
partnership with our Diocesan Church for almost 15 years, the
BOS Advertising Agency, once again, deserves our grateful appreciation
for the design of this years slogan and promotional material.
BOS President, Michel Ostiguy, has invited all bill-posting
firms to advertise the Collection of the Catholic Church of
Montreal. As a result, we are confident that the campaign will
benefit from extensive visibility along our streets, throughout
the month of May.
As
in prior years, large banners are already installed outside
the Cathedral and St. Patricks Basilica. Moreover, one
of the side walls of the BOS Agency headquarters, at 3575 Saint
Laurent Boulevard, in Montreal, has been painted with the campaigns
theme.
Promotional
kits have been provided to all Christian communities in the
Diocese. For additional material or information, please feel
free to call campaign coordinator, Ms. Maria Mucci, at 514-931-7311,
